There are 5 cats that I photographed during Week 2 and Week 3 at the Wake County Animal Shelter that got adopted, which I was really happy about. Unfortunately none of the dogs I've photographed have been adopted yet, although one from this week has a deposit. Here are the lucky kitties that got adopted:

| WCAS, Archie, ID#: 53162, Date in Shelter: 5/20/11 |

| WCAS, Kuddles, ID#: 53153, Date in Shelter: 5/20/11 |

I'm sorry to hear your blog is MIA, but I'm glad you had 5 kitties get adopted! It's interesting that most of the cats are striped/multicolored. I've noticed that the black cats I've been taking pictures of really are less likely to be adopted. (Not that I would ever doubt our fearless leader, but it's different to see things with your own eyes.)
ReplyDeleteKeep up the good work!
Haha, wow, I didn't even notice that about these cats. I did notice a lot of people talking about how they wanted the striped or multi-colored cats more when they were "cat-shopping" the other day though. And, yes, I did notice quite a few black cats lingering and not being adopted. Is it because of superstitions? I thought our culture was past that, but maybe not...Although, it can be hard to distinguish unique features in all that black fur, it's not exactly the most well lit place...
ReplyDeleteI am so drawn to the last picture! Wow! Great job! I even want to adopt this cat and I am not the biggest cat fan, haha. The picture looks edited very nicely but not to the point where it is unnatural or fake. The eyes really stand out and the catch lights are perfect.
ReplyDeleteAlison, I'm so sorry about the blog disappearance...a true bummer given how much work had been put into it! The thing I noticed about the last three photos are the whiskers. I think their crisp whiteness contributes well to the contrast of the overall photos and provides a great balancing element to the lower part of these compositions. They provide an element of detail that is interesting to me as a viewer. My one other observation is that the photo of Archie is a unique closeup viewpoint but still seems a bit dark. Perhaps some work in levels might lighten it up more or some more work with at least the eyes would be helpful. I love how we see this kitty, almost touching the camera lens!
ReplyDeleteGood comments everyone! 5 cats is a fantastic number. Phil is a particularly strong image. It is corrected well, and reveals a curious personality.
